7 Day Healthy Habits Challenge : Day 3

Welcome to Day 3!

Have you ever heard the phrase "you are what you eat?" How we eat directly impacts how we feel. Eating whole foods, like the organic fruits and vegetables found in our smoothies, will keep you fuller longer and help you avoid foods that can cause you to feel bloated or tired. 

Our Orange Detox Smoothie is a great way to help you reset. Our recipe adds carrot juice and orange juice to naturally boost Vitamin C, as well as ginger. Ginger is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that help aid digestion and ease stomach discomfort. 

As we near the halfway point, you should be starting to notice an increase in energy levels, less cravings, and feeling better overall. 

 

Smoothie of the Day: Orange Detox Smoothie

Orange Detox Smoothie

  • 1 SmoothieBox Orange Smoothie mix
  • 4oz carrot juice
  • 8oz orange juice
  • 4oz unsweetened almond milk 
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger OR 1 tsp cold pressed ginger juice
  • 1/2 apple, sliced

     

    Workout of the Day: No Equipment Workout

    Body Weight Exercise

    Exercise is such an important part of our overall health, but it's easy to make excuses. Today's workout is a no equipment workout from fitness trainer Carrie Groff that you can do easily from home- so there's no room for excuses! 

     

    Lunch: Leftover Pulled Pork

    Ingredients:

    • 2.5 lbs pork tenderloin (approximately 2 medium pork tenderloins)
    • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon paprika
    • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 cups chicken stock
    • 1/2 cup Barbecue Sauce of Choice

      Directions:

      1. Clean off ‘silver skin’ from pork tenderloin.
      2.  In a bowl, whisk together olive oil + spices. Marinate pork in olive oil + spices overnight if possible in a ziplock bag, otherwise place tenderloins in crockpot and cover with oil/spice marinade. Make sure all areas of the pork have some marinade on them.
      3. Pour chicken stock on top of marinated tenderloins.
      4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours in the crockpot or high for 4-6 hours.
      5. When finished cooking, use tongs or a fork to pull the tenderloins apart (it will fall apart!). Allow the juices to soak into the pulled pork.
      6. Toss with your favorite barbecue sauce + enjoy with a baked potato/veggie

       

      Dinner: Crockpot Stuffed Peppers

      Crockpot stuffed peppers

      Ingredients:

      • 1 tbsp olive oil
      • 6 large bell peppers
      • 1 lb ground beef
      • 1/2 cup onions, pulsed in food processor
      • 2 cloves garlic, pulsed in food processor
      • 1 cup carrots, pulsed in food processor
      • 1 cup cauliflower rice
      • 2 cups tomato sauce (leave 6 tablespoons off to the side!)
      • 1 teaspoon dried basil
      • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
      • 1 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 cup water

        Directions:

        1. Preheat oven to 375. In a large pan, heat olive oil. Sauté beef for 10 minutes until browned.
        2. While the beef is cooking, slice the tops of the peppers off + remove the seeds.
        3. Pulse carrots, onions, garlic, basil & parsley in the food processor until finely chopped. Stir in chopped veggie mixture with beef.
        4. Sauté until veggies are soft. When everything is cooked, turn off the heat + stir in raw cauliflower rice, tomato sauce + spices. Stuff the peppers with the mixture and top each pepper with remaining tablespoon of tomato sauce. You can use a spoon or your hands to fill the peppers + press the mixture down to fit all of it inside.
        5. Add peppers to crockpot and 1/4 cup water in the base. Cook the peppers on low for 4-6 hours.
